A limestone range west of Ouesslatia in the Kairouan back country, declared a national park in 2010 for its Mediterranean scrub, raptors and rock art. Roman remains and painted shelters lie among the ridges.

A PERMIT IS NEEDED TO VISIT

PERMIT
Entry to a Tunisian national park is arranged through the Direction Generale des Forets; a written request to the DGF or the regional forestry commissariat is normally answered in three to five working days.
GUIDE
Recommended. There is no visitor infrastructure and tracks are unsigned.
SEASON
Spring and autumn; the interior is very hot in summer.
RULES
No camping or fires without permission from the forestry service.
