Chemtou, Jendouba
Chemtou, ancient Simitthus, was a Numidian town from at least the 8th century BC that became a Roman colony under Augustus and was known for the marble quarried from its hills. Visitors see the forum and basilica built over Numidian tombs, a theatre, the marble hill with its hilltop sanctuary, and a museum.
