A moated fort by the harbour of Houmt Souk, built in 1425 under the Hafsid sultan Abu Faris and reworked from 1567 by the Ottoman governor Ghazi Mustapha. It saw several battles for control of Djerba, including the 1560 clash between Ottoman and Spanish forces.
