Samar Haddad King, biography

Samar Haddad King is a Palestinian-American choreographer, director, composer and writer, and the founding artistic director of Yaa Samar!

Dance Theatre (YSDT), the dance-theatre company she formed in 2005 and that works between New York and Palestine. She trained in the Ailey/Fordham BFA programme under Kazuko Hirabayashi, and her work has been commissioned by Hubbard Street 2, the Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, the Hong Kong Arts Festival and The Walk/St. Ann's Warehouse. Her awards include the Prix des Jeunes Createurs Palestiniens, a La Fabrique Chaillot residency in Paris, a fellowship at NYU's Center for Ballet and the Arts and a 2023 Creative Capital Wild Futures award.
