A damp oak forest on the Kroumirie ridge behind Nefza, mapped as a nature reserve. Cork oak and zeen oak, ferns and fungi cover the slopes, and on a clear day the Galite islands show on the horizon.
Rules
A PERMIT IS NEEDED TO VISIT
- PERMIT
- Forest land under the Direction Generale des Forets; ask at the Nefza forestry office before organised visits.
- GUIDE
- Recommended, as forest tracks are unsigned.
- SEASON
- Autumn for fungi, spring for flowers. The tracks turn to mud after winter rain.
- RULES
- No fires; the cork oak forests of the northwest have a high fire risk from June to October.
