Kerkouane, at the tip of Cap Bon, is the only Punic town preserved without later rebuilding, abandoned after its destruction in the First Punic War around 256 BC and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. Inside its double walls are grid streets, courtyard houses that each had a bathroom, a large sanctuary and a museum.
