The Roman amphitheatre at the western edge of ancient Carthage, first built in the 1st century and enlarged a century later, where animal hunts and gladiator fights were staged. It is linked to the martyrdom of Perpetua and Felicity, commemorated by a column and chapel erected in 1893.
